The Big Book Give-Away!

Right then.

I have several hundred books that need to be out of my house by July. Mother is having two bags full, Rod has kindly agreed to take a mystery box. Who else wants any?

Ask me for specific titles or give me a genre or two and I can do you a mystery box. I'll be working on getting them to you through juggle mail if you're not in Leicester.

They're all in good nick and I'm not asking for money. Just please take them away.

[Edit] If you're still living in the stone age the same also applies for a hundred or so VHS tapes.

Car boot should help n'all.
When exactly do you need to have shot?

I'd like them all gone as soon as possible, really as they're impeding my super-organised packing.

But in reality I could get away with keeping them in the house till we give the keys back in late July.

I am intending on car-booting them if nobody wants them but I'd rather at least some of them went to good homes

I might pop in on Sunday then to of a look.

I like the idea of a mystery set of books.

I read a lot of Pratchett and Guy Gavriel Kay, so anything that way inclined, or something in the F Scott Fitzgerald would be grand.

Guy Gavriel Kay is *great*.

You should try the Temeraire books (Naomi Novik), they're really good as well.

Me please! I'd like you to educate me. So anything I know nothing about, like history and politics. *yawn* No pain, no gain! And anything Tom would like, which is slightly high brow/pretentious fiction.

(Can pay you back for postage if you want to package up 5 or so and send them up.)

OK, we have sorted out a selection of books for most of the people that have asked now. Stuff will be sent via jugger mail from the next convention that we go to or if we see anyone before then that will be able to pass stuff on.

Some stuff is being sent with requests to forward it on when it has been read as certain subjects have been requested by more then one person.

hope you all enjoy what you get and if anyone else wants any, particularly fiction, history, foodie stuff or politics then let us know.

Oh, ooh, ooh, me please .

I'd like foodie stuff if it's got any good wheat and/or dairy free ideas in it, cos her indoors does bad poos if she eats those things. Can you do me a grab bag of fiction too? I like most things so long as they're not by old boring dead guys who seem to be paid by the word, or Will Self.

Thanks very much

...and sorry for the "functional" references, but they seemed appropriate here ;o)

Blimey I should of driven to Edinburgh, then I could have taken a delivery van around. Rosie - I have a bag full for you so come prepared on Thursday!

Fak,

You've flummoxed me a bit with your requests. When you say you're interested in Fitzgerald-y stuff what is it you actually like about him? Are we talking themes or writing style or what?

I'm thinking Grahame Greene if you haven't had a go at his stuff before. More for a similar clarity of writing than for any particularly similar subject matter.

Don't let the big teetering pile of Greene books sat in the middle of my floor influence you in any way here.

I'm guessing that you will have had to get rid of it all by the time we come up, but history and politics is Matt's kind of bag (not mine though - bleargh!) So if there's any left and you still want rid by the end of July, he can have a look and we'll have his car for transport.

Fitzgeraldy - mostly writing style, but also themes. Go on, chuck some Greene at me then.
